HOT DAMN! I cannot tell you how much I love the idea of Louis's fascination with anatomy. Did the discussion of vampire physiology partly inspire it? Thank uuuuu! Yes, I think Louis, being a booklover, would be very into anatomy, but even more than that, the merging of art and science would be appealing to him, in the illustrations of a real vintage edition.
Actually, gairid's work inspired this, with the idea that their tongues are rough/barbed like cat's tongues to facilitate lapping up liquid. I had messaged gairid privately about that, and it seemed we both had a mutual interest in the Vampire Biology topic, which I put on the backburner temporarily.
This is going to sound so stuffy, I apologize in advance, but since u asked: with this ficlet, I came up with the first line when I cut myself the other day. Not in the tendon, just the knuckle! Then I was thinking about tendons, and then did a little research on tendons, which led to researching maps of major arteries... then I was curious about famous circulation illustrators, and that's where I went, basically!
So I had a draft already by the time I mentioned vampire biology in the TVL Sec. 4 discussion post, just put it out there as bait to see if anyone else might want to discuss that as a separate topic. Was quite thrilled to get so many bites :]
And that image of him planting kisses as if fastening buttons on Lestat's chest is so arresting... Yes, it felt like both a calming and stimulating gesture. Nurturing and provocative, which is pretty much the combination I see Louis needing when being sensual with Lestat.
