I love darker sorts of fairy stories.
Me too! When I read this piece... it gave me this visceral reaction even before his hand got burned. That sibling dynamic was just spot-on, and one could tell that the two of them had been closer when they were younger. They're at these phases where their personalities are crackling with potential as people, less as the cuddly "little people" that kids are sort of treated as.

That jewelry really was special, in a deceptive way, very Stephen King of you that the really scary things are the things that seem mundane at first. And then how the mom threw her own child to the wolves, so to speak! BAM!

I think Tori needs to write a really scary-ass version of Peter Pan. *ahem* (also doing my best to keep Tori writing but not what she's supposed to be writing.)
Seconded. And VC drabbles of course. Tori, your Armand/Daniel stuff is killer, but you know that already!

I'll have to check out Gated and Shades. Added to my To Read list!
